In Search of
Full-Time, Youth Development Professional who has a passion for serving school-age children (Primarily grades 4-8), and their families, in a caring educational setting that is rooted in the mission of the YMCA, a non-profit, charity organization.
Position Description:
- Designs and implements daily lesson/activity plans for before and after school and school-day off/snow day programs.
- Responsible for well-being and personal growth of all children enrolled in programming.
- Leadership during Summer Day Camp to include; coordinating programming for youth entering grades 3-5, supervising approximately 3 staff, maintaining daily records, and assisting in planning and delivery of staff training.
- Makes ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child.
- Conducts parent conferences as needed, and maintains positive relationships and effective communication with parents.
- Maintains program site/classroom and equipment required program records.
- Attends and participates in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training.
- Maintains training in First aid, CPR, Communicable Diseases and Child Abuse Awareness as well as 10 hours of Ohio Approved training per year. (trainings provided by YMCA and affiliates)
Minimum Qualifications:
- Associates degree or higher in education or related field
- At least 18 years old
- Ability to work outdoors time during summer months
Preferred Qualifications and Skills:
- Experience in Summer Camp and/or before and after school care
- Basic knowledge of developmentally appropriate practice
- Demonstrated ability to lead songs, skits and games
